EnCana bomber releases another letter

DAWSON CREEK – The individual(s) responsible for six bombings of EnCana installations has warned of future attacks unless the company ceases its activities in the region.

In a letter mailed to the Dawson Creek Daily News on July 16, the bomber gives EnCana three months to commit to removing all of its oil and gas facilities in “our territories of the Tomslake and Kelly Lake districts.”

Police have determined from the postage stamp on the outside of the envelope that it was mailed from Spirit River, Alberta, although police haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact location it was sent from. Sgt. Tim Shields, spokesperson for the RCMP, said that while the investigation is ongoing on both sides of the border, police believe the perpetrator to be from the BC Peace region.

“At this point, we’re operating under the assumption that the suspect is from the local Tomslake area, or at least the immediate Dawson Creek area,” said Shields. “It appears that the suspect knows the area very well.”

No arrests have been made to date, but Shields said there are a few people of interest to police who refuse to cooperate with the investigation.

“There are a handful of persons of interest – they know who they are, and we’ve spoken to them numerous times, and some of them are refusing to cooperate with our investigators. Our priority has been to eliminate these people as being potentially involved with the investigation, but we need their cooperation in order to stroke their names off the list.”

He said there could be a number of reasons why they’re not cooperating, but he refused to speculate on their motives.

The letter is the second one the bomber has sent to the media, with the first one sent in October of last year. It is believed both letters, which are thought to have been written by the same person, can be viewed at the RCMP website, www.dawsoncreekbombings.com, and tips can also be submitted on the website, or by calling the dedicated phone line at 1-866-994-7473.
